Bio

Sam is a founding partner of Paceline and serves as a member of the Investment Committee and the Chief Executive Officer. Sam also currently serves on the Advisory Board of Paceline portfolio companies RELAM, Inc., Quick Fitting, LLC, and AHF Products, LLC. Prior to forming Paceline, Sam most recently served as the President of the North American region of Lone Star Funds, where he was responsible for origination and investment oversight for North American investments. During Sam’s tenure as President beginning in 2014, Lone Star deployed over $10.0bn of equity across 60 investments and hundreds of transactions. During this same time period, Sam served as a member of Lone Star’s Senior Management and Global Risk Committees, was Chairman of the Liquidity Risk Committee, and a key man for Lone Star Opportunity Funds VIII – X, Lone Star Real Estate Funds III – V, and the Lone Star Residential Mortgage Fund. Sam served as Senior Managing Director and Head of Opportunity Fund investments beginning in 2013. Sam served as Managing Director at Lone Star beginning in 2012 responsible for identifying and sourcing corporate, consumer, and residential investment opportunities. From 2008 to 2012, Sam was a Managing Director of Hudson Advisors, LLC (“Hudson”), an asset management affiliate of Lone Star, where he was a manager of corporate and real estate assets in North America. Sam’s tenure at Lone Star ended in August 2017.

Prior to serving at Hudson, Sam was a Partner at CCG Venture Partners, LLC, where he was responsible for legal oversight, deal structuring, asset valuation, acquisitions, and sales. Prior to this, he was an attorney in the business and corporate securities section at the law firm of Vinson & Elkins, specializing in technology law and venture capital financing, where he supported clients in venture capital and mezzanine financing transactions, private and public securities offerings, mergers and acquisitions, management buyouts, and debt financing transactions. Sam has held numerous directorships including serving as Chairman of Foundation Building Materials Inc. (NYSE: FBM), Chairman of Home Properties, Inc., Chairman of Forterra, Inc. (Nasdaq: FRTA), Chairman of Continental Building Products, Inc. (NYSE: CBPX), and Chairman of Del Frisco’s Restaurant Group, Inc. (Nasdaq: DFRG). Sam currently serves as a member of the Board of Trustees of University of Texas Southwestern Medical Foundation and the Baylor University Regent Selection Task Force. Sam earned a J.D. with honors from the University of Texas and a Bachelor of Arts, summa cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa from Baylor University.
